Built-in Central Vacuum Systems:
Vacu-Maid Central Vacuum Cleaner

Central vacuum systems are also called ducted vacuum systems, central vacuum cleaners, built-in vacuum systems, built-in vacuum cleaners or central vacuums and are an innovative way of vacuuming a home. Built-in vacuums are the pinnacle of efficiency, not only saving time and energy, but add value to your home and also eliminating the noise, smell, and costly upkeep of portable vacuum cleaners.

Traditional vacuum cleaners allow too much dust to recirculate – on your rugs, furniture and throughout your home. The result: indoor air pollutant levels are two to five times, and in some cases 100 times higher than outdoor levels.

Central vacuum systems are fast becoming one of the more popular household appliances in South Africa because of its ease of service and the convenience of use. You can basically reattach the hose to any outlet and work with it from there without needing to drag the machine around behind you.

Our central vacuum systems are unique and we offer the widest selection of built-in centra vacuum cleaners (more than 30 models) in South Africa. We also offer the widest range of central vacuum hoses and attachments, accessories, replacement motors, and spare parts which are compatible with and can also be used with Electrolux central vacuum cleaners, Allegro, Beam Built-in Central Vacuum systems, Vacu-Maid, Silent Master, Premier Clean, Auskay, Beam Central Vacuum systems and Vacuflo central vacuum systems.

Eliminate Allergy Invaders With a True HEPA Filter Vacuum Cleaner

HEPA is a standard of filter that removes even the smallest dirt particles from the air passing through the filter. High Efficiency Particulate Air filters (HEPA) come in two standards and both are used in HEPA Vacuum Cleaners.

HEPA filters can be Certified or True

Certified or True HEPPA Filters - Tested to ensure that they meet HEPA standards. The standard says the filter must be able to remove 99.7% of particles of .3 microns or larger. If the filter has been tested and certified then the test results are printed on the filter to certify the filter is True HEPA standard. Because of the high standard of filtering required these HEPA filters are quite expensive but their performance is far superior than most non certified filters. If you are going to buy a HEPA Vacuum Cleaner then you should get one with a certified HEPA filter.

HEPA Type Filters

HEPA Type filters are very similar to True HEPA filters and are made like them as well. They could bear a lot of resemblance to each other and can be difficult to tell apart. The only difference is the certification.

HEPA types do not have to meet the filter standards of True HEPA. Typically these filters only absorb 85 - 90 percent of particles and when the size of the particle is less than 1 micron, this percentage drops further. HEPA Vacuum Cleaners of this type are often not much better than your average non HEPA Vacuum Cleaners.

Differentiation

Always look for the test results and certification number which should on the filter. Just remember the test requirements are that the filter removes 99.97% of particles .3 microns and above. Unless the filter reaches this standard it should not be called a True HEPA filter.

Advantages of HEPA filter

For people who suffer from allergies the HEPA filter removes virtually all of the allergy causing particles from the air returned to the room. This helps remove a source of irritation for them. Because HEPA Vacuum Cleaners are reasonably expensive due to the high cost of a HEPA filter system the extra expense is probably only warranted if you have someone in the household who is highly allergic.

It will depend upon your own families requirements whether to buy a HEPA Vacuum Cleaner. If you do so decide be sure and look for the certification and HEPA test results.

What is a HEPA filter and do I need one?

HEPA is an acronym for "high efficiency particulate air". Basically HEPA is a type of filter that can trap a large amount of very small particles that other vacuum cleaners would simply recirculate back into the air of your home. There are a couple of different categories of HEPA filters that can make understanding the abilities of your filter confusing.

Answer:

True or Absolute HEPA Filters

True or absolute HEPA filters must pass a test to be considered HEPA worthy. True HEPA filters will have a serial number assigned to them if they are able to trap at least 99.97 percent of particles of .3 microns. These test results will be printed on the filter. True or absolute HEPA filters may be more expensive than other HEPA filters, but they must perform at a certain standard to receive the distinction of true or absolute HEPA.

HEPA Type Filters

HEPA type or HEPA like filters may be made in similar ways to true HEPA filters and may even resemble them. They do not have to meet the same standards as true or absolute HEPA filters. They often capture only 85 to 90 percent of particles and that percent can fall even lower for particles of 1 micron and below. HEPA type filters are less expensive than true or absolute HEPA filters.
